St. Michael Woven Scapular
St. Michael Woven Scapular
The Scapular of St. Michael is a traditional Roman Catholic devotional sacramental associated with St. Michael the Archangel, a symbol of spiritual protection and strength. First originating prior to 1878, it received papal blessing from Pope Pius IX and was later formally approved under Pope Leo XIII, with the Archconfraternity of the Scapular of St. Michael established in Rome in the late 19th century.
A meaningful devotional detail: members were traditionally enrolled into the confraternity when invested with the scapular, and today any priest may bless and enroll the faithful. Each scapular features embroidered panels of St. Michael defeating the devil, reflecting the Archangel’s role as protector and defender in Catholic tradition.
